Problem Statement
Students today you are going to create 'Graphic organizers' of idioms that you will locate on the internet. Along with locating specific idioms, you will divide your idioms into lists labeled 'LITERAL' or 'INFERENTIAL'. Using the graphic organizer you have chosen, create either a LITERAL graphic organizer or an INFERENTIAL graphic organizer. I would like you to print out two examples of INFERENTIAL IDIOMS & two examples of LITERAL IDIOMS.

Activities Before Using the Computer
Make personal of idioms or phrases heard throughout their day tha they are unsure of meaning.
Make list of idioms heard,and indicate where they heard it, how was it used, and enviroment idioms was used in

Strategies to develop students' attitudes towards the problem, motivation, and overall mindfulness:
Have students visualize in their minds what specific idioms would look like if drawn out in a book

 

Activities While Using the Computer
Students will work at the computer groups

Group Information:
Group A Use Internet search engine for finding definiton of Idioms
Group B: Log down definitions found and clasify as 'Literal' or 'Inferential'
Group C will locate examplrs of 'graphic Organizers' to select from for presentation

 

Activities After Using the Computer
Gather all information and decide how to present their information as:
a)Written only presentation(Literal/Inferential)
b)Illustrated (drawing) presentation(Literal/Inferential)
c) decide on idoms to use that they can easily use A&B with to create a Graphic Organizer

Write down examples of situations wgere idioms might be used
