Strategies to develop students' attitudes towards the problem, motivation, and overall mindfulness:
The students will be shown several pictures of the devestation of some of the countries around the world. The students will be ask to write how they would feel if they lived in a situation like this. The students can talk about it in the groups while they are coming up with ways to help the other countries.
Activities While Using the Computer
Students will work at the computer groups
Group Information:
The students will work in groups of four. The groups will consist of four roles. The roles include the researcher, the manager/leader, peacekeeper/time tracker and the presenter. Each student will have a laptop to work with; therefore, the students will all take on the role of the researcher. All students will be able to use the computers at all times.
Activities After Using the Computer
The students will write their feelings in a brief summary about how they feel about the help that can be provided.
Supporting Activities
The students will all use the computers at the same time. The students will have time investigate a varity of books on natural diasters, different countries and aid for others.
