Lesson Summary
The purpose of this lesson is to provide basic information to students that will help students to make good food choices that will lead them to healthy lives.Students will be able to list the food groups and the recommending serving sizes and be able to create a plan to a balance and healthy diet.

This lesson plan uses 14 objectives.

Objective 1: Students will identify the food groups used in the USDA Food Pyramid.

Uses The Internet to view new food pyramid guidleines.

Uses Spreadsheet to create a fitness profile.

Uses Word Processing to summarize data learned using the food pyramid.

Objective 2: Students will explain how the food pyramid will help people obtain a balance diet.
Uses Word Processing to complete the "thinking sheets" about nutrition.

Today, we are going to investigate how many servings of each food group you consume and if you meet or surpass the recommended serving size based upon your age, sex and exercise level.

While researching the data, students will record the information in their notebook to later record in database and apreadsheets. Students needs to list general information such as name, age, sex and etc to create a fitness profile.

Problem Statement
You are what you eat, are you eating healthy or unhealtthy? You will identify and learn the recommended serving size based upon your age, sex and activity level.

Create a table listing the food groups and the recommended serving sizes using the appropriate title for each field and record.
